Parent's Newsletter January 2009 :: Posted 17-01-2009

Welcome to Drama Club 2009! We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas break and are looking forward to the New Year.

The 2009 GCSE group are busy working on the plays they have written for the final paper of their exam which they will be performing to an examiner in the spring. There will be a performance of these plays for parents and friends on Monday May 4th (bank holiday Monday) at 7.00pm in Huntingfield. All year 8 and 9 should attend this performance to see what they will be expected to do when it is their turn! There will be no charge. Dress rehearsals for the plays will take place in the hut all over the bank holiday weekend.

At the end of last term the 2010 GCSE group enjoyed a trip to see a sixth form production of ‘Our County’s Good’ by Timberlake Wertenberger at Framlingham College. They are using this script as part of their course and have written essays about the production.

The rest of the club are about to start preparing for Youth 09 which will take place at the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich between 29th June and 2nd July. The theme this year is osteoporosis – unbelievable but true! Louise is trying to get her head round it!

THEATRE TRIP
We have booked tickets to see the 2.30 performance of ‘Joseph’ at the Theatre Royal, Norwich on Tuesday April 14th – during the Easter holidays. The tickets (very good ones) will cost £13.50 each but the club will pay the cost of the bus – pickups in Halesworth and anywhere else en route from Peasenhall to Halesworth by request - (This is partly because we don’t feel there are enough younger children in the club to make a party feasible this year.)
This trip is for everyone including both GCSE courses. Please support it.

FEES
This term’s fees are £23.00 class fees (only 2 members of any one family pay).These fees are due by half term, after which we operate a penalty fee of £2.00 per child. Please make cheques out to LCDC. Thank you.

19th March - Last drama this term
14th April - ‘Joseph’
23rd April - Drama starts again
4th May - GCSE exam performance in Huntingfield.
28th May - No drama. Half term
4th June - Year 8 start their GCSE course.
29th June til 2nd July - Wolsey Theatre Youth ’09 performance.
2nd July - Last drama next term. If this clashes with the Wolsey performance, we will have classes on July 9th instead.

The date of the AGM will be Tuesday 28th April in Huntingfield at 7.00pm. Everyone welcome.
