Drama Camp 2008 :: Posted 02-10-2008

The end of August brought our last residential summer drama camp at Felixstowe Ferry. This is the twenty fifth year we have been running residential camps and the tenth year we have been in Felixstowe. Widget and Mary came back to help us, both for the fifth year running. Widget was very ably assisted by Millie Cook and parents were treated to a mini version of ‘Into the Woods’ when they came to collect their children on the Sunday morning. The children also very much enjoyed learning one or two routines from ‘Chicago’, the show Widget has been working with this year in London and both they and Millie and Widget entertained Louise, Mary and Patsy with the routines during the Sunday morning ‘clear up’. The food was stupendous as usual and Mary and Louise both appreciated the very hard work put in by the two students (Daniel and Poppy). Thanks guys!

Several non drama club children attended the camp this year to boost our reduced numbers and we are particularly grateful to Darren France who advertised the camp with his Fisher Theatre Club which resulted in a good number of them supporting us.

Camp has made a loss for the past two years and this year the loss was about £250.00 so it is probably a good time to stop it for more than one reason. Any future, similar ventures would need grant support.
